Okay, from my last visit to the ol Alma Mater a few days back, I have some news(invariably outdated tho it may be):
1. Malhar CP-Gulrukh Mistry. OCs all chosen. OG application open for all but TEXX.
2.Changes- The BCR-GCR level is being used for the new BMS courses, but will be open for students. Staff room won't be shifted. Games room and Sports office merged with gym. LR02 becomes CR+BCR. Mess becomes GCR. Hostel grows smaller by one floor, meaning that only 60 students can stay as opposed to the previous 90. The Bio labs are divided for the new Bio-info course. The rest of the changes i have forgotten. All this from a notice outside the College office. Any corrections additions welcomed, provided that they are based on actual information(here's looking at you Anon).

u mean d zoology/biochem/JC labs on d 3rd floor??
Things sure have changed a lot back in college........I would probably lose my way around the school building if I attempted to find where my old classrooms used to be.....What're the terrace classrooms like now? Still have classes there? That was a fun place to have lectures in.

Pun- don't much in detail about the labs, but i saw the saddest thing today! They've thrown Anna out of the hostel along with the mess, and shifted it to the space inside the canteen. The poor guy has to stand there watching non-mess people eat at his tables and he can't do anything about it! Freaky!!!
OMG! I went to college today, too, but i didn't happen to glance at my chem class, LR 02! DID see all the work going on in the (ex) GCR and BCR, though.
One more sad thing to add to the list - Remember the 3 flavours of Iced Tea? Well, now they cost 15 bucks for the same glass, instead of 10!! :(
:D Well ice tea i certainly won't miss(was a cold coffee/chocolate sort of guy)but rising prices is very bad.:(
It's sad that the mess doesn't exist in it's original location.......I remember having eaten a lot of breakfasts and lunches there.........won't be the same in the canteen area.

The cold coffee is going through the roof!
Chicken grill doesn't taste that good too.
The girl's loo is still getting fixed!!!
The Malhar office is under the Harry Potter stairs.

BTW, are these the revised prices because of VAT which will hit restaurants/food places on Aug 1???
This VAT thing is wierd. According to an uncle of mine in sales, prices for the end-user shouldn't change. Apparently the sales tax we would normally pay is now distributed throughout the manufacturing process, ie, each middle man will have to pay more tax until the consumer pays the total sales tax. Now am i right? have no idea.
Yikes!! Economics seems to whizz past my brains with Zilch retention!

Just a comment about VAT. It is supposed to work that way in thory, but Coz no one used to pay taxes earlier, The Vat is an additional expense.
And Btw VAT is not 50% only 12.5% so it something else. I tried to ask the Ice Tea guy and he just replied 'Kharche bad gaye hai'
Gerry~ I don't think that Xavier's has changed so much as to warrant new pictures. You can check out the old ones that are already there on this blog.
The coffee guy told me something about new equipement... But I havent seen any equipement.
And yeah, chit you're right. At each stage in the manufacturing process, there is a tax charged because of an increase in value.
And yeah, Are global coffee prices are through the roof or something??? Cause I don't get this 50% increase!!!
Talking abt food, does anyone know what happened to our beloved Bengali sandwich guy outside the college......who can easily be credited with the most delectable food around the place...well acc to me atleast :)

My sister[who was in SXC from 1996-2001] told me that he was one of the first few ppl to have a cell phone way back in 97.
WOW!!! :p BTW he's also a NCP party worker. Gave me his card once. I LOVE HIS SANDWICHES!!! :'( He had an assistant last year. Dunno where they've gone this time......
@ Ranjana, I totally agree with you about the "delectable" food!!
considering that every day from 12:40 to 1:20 we were hogging his sandwiches . after class and before class too... Hehe

Hey Differently challenged! What's your sister's name? Coz I was in college from 1996-2001 as well.........could be a friend of mine.
And yes, the sandwich guy did have a cell phone way back then.......long before most of the students had one.....We've eaten a lot of those sandwiches and dosas from outside college when we were around.

Differently challenged........I did Psycho till SYBA....so, she would have definitely been in my class.....Only in TY, I majored in Lit. instead of Psycho.....Ask her if she remembers someone called Lynette.
