type='text'>Welcome to Blogger, Beta

Attention all students!

It is a new dawn for this blog of ours, St Xaviers College, ala blogger. Not only have i returned; to tend more carefully to this place, I have also, as you may notice, shifted the blog to the New Blogger. I urge students to shift their accounts to blogger beta too, so that they can resume their production of the good clean wholesomeness that is the trademark of our college in real life(That Is how you will treat this blog, right?).

I encourage further, the alumni occupants to riddle this place with trips down memory lane, and those of us who Do attend the college(and I hope they study there as well) to provide us with information as to what exactly is going on.

Happy Blogging,
CyberFrasier

PS And I'm Watching Im new to this blog and vow Its really a day to blog about something.
Very few of us know the fact we were expected to wear white(though not impeccable) today in memory of all those who lost their lives last year due to the floods. Well Xaviers students (most of...) actually were ignorant or like me who could not find a decent white wear. The fun begins here.....

I was along with some of my friends from FJYC (Science-B) walking out of the campus due to a free lecture while suddenly a journalist knocked my friend and was asking her why some of our friends are wearing white t-shirts. I backed her saying its in memory of the floods and I had to callback my white-friends who had already walked ahead. He said he wanted to click a photo of those wearing white to be published in "The Week". ahaha! i was so stunned so the white t-'s grouped and clicked a photo.

Now what he did next was called both wearing white & non-white t-shirts together and made us act as if we were ignorant about a journalist around and clicked a photo. Now im wondering why he clicked the second photo,
Im just curious because I expect him to write something like

"At Xaviers, some students(those in white) care about the memory of lost one's while others(me & ...) are too ignorant or ......(you know what)"
I wish this guess isn't true LoL.... The only way to check this is to keep an update of The Week magazine, post in if you see Xavier studs around ;)

Post in your comments...

Song of Reynol

Expecting not more than a smile,
he waters the plants, picks out garbage and keeps the place clean.

flowers giggling at the tiklish water drops,
the earth looks graceful whilst soaked wet,
plants enjoying the cool wind,
and he waves to those passing by.

he waters all day long,
prolonging the greenary around,
enjoying it he smiles with those tearful eyes.

his brittle yet strong hands have been put to mother earths service,
he gets tired and a break he takes,
eats the breakfast his dear wife makes,
comes back and sees the sky in gloom,
finishes his work before noon.

he clears garbage with those old hands too,
he loves the earth clean and new,
he even scoulds to some loitring around,
gets back to his work without a sound.

he shoots me a stranghe look with those bullet shot eyes,
he recognises and smiles with no despise,
gets back to his work as if he never knew me,
talks to some with a smile,
my respect to his dedication and sublime mind.

he doesnt wish for you to stay,
he wishes not for you to go away,
just one look at his bullet shot eyes,
one could see others frown and despise.

then at late he rests on his bed finally,
this life he lives cannot get harder,
for "Reynol", our St. Xaviers Gardener.

cryptmaster............ With an explosion of pink....in the case of the 'ladies' loo.

All the space has been used in an optimum fashion indeed. And as of now, they are clean, but whether they stay so remains to be seen. The doors in violet, and they look OK but I still feel its the wrong shade of violet. Same goes for the pink tiles.

Another new feature is that there is something for every market segment (in this case, the market being ...toilet seat preferences), what with English, Anglo-Indian and Indian loos. English for those who're certifiably lazy to the extent of wanting to sit even in loos (!), Indian for the gals who don't subscribe to the theory of butt-bonding, and Anglo-Indian for those who are plain indecisive about anything and everything.

The washbasins are shinier, and they don't give you this impression of slush and other icky stuff ready to pour out of the pipes. Malhar CP-Gulrukh Mistry. OCs all chosen. OG application open for all but TEXX.

2.Changes- The BCR-GCR level is being used for the new BMS courses, but will be open for students. Staff room won't be shifted. Games room and Sports office merged with gym. LR02 becomes CR+BCR. Mess becomes GCR. Hostel grows smaller by one floor, meaning that only 60 students can stay as opposed to the previous 90. The Bio labs are divided for the new Bio-info course. The rest of the changes i have forgotten. All this from a notice outside the College office. Any corrections additions welcomed, provided that they are based on actual information(here's looking at you Anon).

Thank you, thank you very much!

Group Singing Contests

Ladies and gentlemen, here is something to remember about the upcoming competitions for Malhar, Kaleidoscope, etc:

When it comes to the group singing event, THINK BIG!!!! Acapella music has evolved so much from the time that i was in college. It's not only now about singing in 4 or 5 voices...it's about percussion, vocal instrumentation, dual harmonies on different timings and sometimes just outright chaos that sounds perfectly in sync. Don't be content with just 'singing for the sake of singing'....sing to be the best you can.

So start practicing NOW!!! If anyone needs any help with putting up a show-stopping performance, just let me know. In the meantime, check out this vocal percussion site: http://www.humanbeatbox.com/

The code: What do you guys think?

Da Vinci Code is a work of fiction. I do however understand how the religious feel about it attacking the church's central pillar of belief. The very claim in the book is that Jesus was a mortal man who was married and had children. This is absolutely contrary to the divinity of Christ as the church professes. However, such attacks of fiction should only serve to prove to strengten one's catholic faith. No feeble attempt like someone's book of fiction should change my entire belief system!! What good is my faith then?!?
Sure the fiction is flawed but nobody said that the story is real. What Dan Brown has very cleverly done (and this has caused all the controversy) is that in the beggining of the book, he has mentioned that all references to documentation in the book are true. However, what he failed to mention is that the interpretations of these documents are not true in the sense that there are a vast number of interpretations and he has chosen only one of them.
So I say: Go watch the movie, have fun but go to confession the next day praying that your soul may not be damned for all eternity in the cold darkness of hell just because you wanted a little entertainment.

cubic

girls loo with 3 mirrors. grills through which you can see beyond if you really want to. a cat in the woods. a cat in the foyer. a crow. with not much hair. girls with not much hair. me. the rare 'ah boy'. creaky floorboards. the faces on the chapel door. gum stuck at the very bottom of the bin. for nearly a year. corrections made on the menu at the chinese counter. ropes strung here and there. falling debris. chicken dripping with colour. terry's office with only one mirror. but with 3 brushes. and books. and paints. and paper. and T.
GCR with its sarvajanik lipstick. and two mirrors. table and wooden screen. so many saris, draped and done away with as soon as we were done showing off. the mermaid with her moocch. slip sliding on the smooth floor. and suddenly i spot an owl. and a heron? ( 1995 - 2000). Their favourite practive spot was the spiral staircase behind the girls loo... on the second floor (where the door opens out to the gym) i loved that dusty spot and it was quiet enough for acapella.
some of the favourites were
Dream- Everly Brothers
In the Still of the night
scarborough fair
Gerald, Neuman, Dean, Carlton(Tenor), Nadir (Bass), Karl Mendonca, Sean Gomes... those were a days..
And of course Gerry and Neuman went on to form the Conchordes.
Just curious to know if there are any more acapella groups around?

Ra

For those of you who dont know:

Acappella music is vocal music or singing without instrumental accompaniment, or a piece intended to be performed in this way. A cappella is Italian for from the chapel (music); the term is due to restrictions on the use of instruments in medieval churches. It is often misspelled as a capella, which is not the Latin spelling, or even acappella.

Need an opinion...

Hey...

I'm a SYJC arts student and was just wondering if an Eco-Stats-Comm option is good for someone who didn't opt for Maths for 2 years... Dropped in for NOSTALGIA, the reunion organized in college earlier this year………It brought back so many memories just to be in the campus again…….many of my friends didn’t show up……..but I met other old friends whom I hadn’t expected to bump into…….It was nice to know what people had been doing over the past five years since I had left Xavier’s…………I kept looking around and staring at how things had changed…….a lot of things were different, and yet everything was still the same……….Xavier’s was my home………I’d been away from my home for 5 years but still, I didn’t feel like I’d ever left the place………..There is a feeling of belonging with that college that cannot really be expressed in words……….but in the words of the college song that I loved so much, ‘St. Xavier’s, You gave me wings…………and it’s those wings that will always help me fly back to you’………..Wherever life may lead me…….if there’s one thing that I will always hold on to, it will be the memory of the times spent in Xavier’s.

A Beginner's Guide to Malhar

Okay, this post is for all you newbies out there who have come to Xavier's, heard about Malhar, and are as lost about it as I was when i first came through those stony arches. Here's a brief on what it's all about.

1. Malhar is an intercollege festival. What this means is that for three days, students from other colleges are going to be traipsing through our corridors, taking part in the best contest people from our college can devise and the college can fund. The whole thing is student organised.

2.Preparation for Malhar starts from NOW. This will goon till august when the 3 actual event days take place.

3. What to do at Malhar-

Organisation- You can be a part of bringing the whole festival to life. This usually is a lot of fun. Its great for making friends(who keep you posted on other fun extracurricular events), and also getting to know the people who inhabit other colleges around Mumbai. In short, its stone one to step on for all things intercollege.

The organisation of Malhar is separated into Departments. To the best of my knowledge they are as follows:

Administration- D-uh, they look after the functioning of everything else. Lots of paper work. Plenty of power. Best place to be for a view of EVERYTHING that happens.

Assistance- By far the most annoying of all departments. They basically make sure everything runs smoothly on the day of Malhar. Joining assistance, you will have the pleasure of telling foreigners(from other colleges) where they are and yelling at people not to block corridors. In the process you will also be yelling at plenty of people from other departments, which is why you are annoying.

Security- These guys(and gals) sit around all day at the gate taking things from people who come in(you have to give them back) and frisking them. A select few also prowl the grounds of Xaviers making sure noone does anything unruly(yeah right).

Graphixx- This department should be fun. They are behind all the posters and banners and other graphix you'll see in Malhar(as in you will actually draw them). Calligraphy is also important, they have the Major task of writing out all the certificates.

Finance- Money matters. If you wanted to be an accountant all your life.

Marketing- These guys have a lot of fun(and a lot of work) they get to travel all around the city tracking down sponsors. You get to talk to alot of people, like newspapers, cola company representatives, etc. Gives you at least some sort of real life event management experience.

PR- Dealing with press agents etc. Also supposed to be fun.

Souveniers- I think the title explains itself.

Comps- Ah yes, if your a geek, you will love this one. You get to design and set up most things comp-related in Malhar, mainly the interfaces used in many events. They depend on you.

TEX- These guys should have been mentioned earlier. They are the backbone of Malhar on event day. They are responible for everything, lighting, sound etc. Its alot of work.

Logs- Another very important group. They are the ants of Malhar, responsible for every heavy thing that is moved. They set up the benches, chairs, etc.

Hospitality- Make sure that the Malhar organisation is well fed.

Raga- If you are interested in Journalism, this should be good. They produce the Official Malhar Newspaper. Writers, Cartoonists, this department beckons!

All the above was the support team for the festivals at Malhar. Now for the departments that organise the actual events. The face of Malhar. All of these departments decide exactly what contests will take place. They decide the rules, the judges, the prizes. Great chance for innovation when you are higher up in the organisation. These guys also meet the most number of people from other colleges. They get to sit in for most of the contests and watch the actual events take place. They also have other tasks.

PA- Performing arts. Plays, dances, singing, etc. Hindi and English. Lots of backstage work.

FA- Fine arts. Painting, sculpting, etc. You get to do alot of work yourself, setting up posters, props, and the FA exhibiton. Very messy.

ETC- Some contests, mostly poplar events such as bands, DJs etc. Hold the fort in the Foyer and First Quad. Lots of fun.

WINC- workshops that coul be anything from greek acting to papaer airplane construction. These are not contests, just fun things for Malhar-goers to do.

LA- Literary Arts. Labeled as the ultimate geek squad. What they do is handle events like quizzes, writing, script writing(of any sort), dumb charades(you won't believe how serious that is on the intercollege level) debates, etc. And of course, the all important JAM. As an LA person, you will collect qiz questions, set up props and be present on event day. You will also run the Book Exhibition.

Well, that's about it. I'm sorry if i've left anything out. I was only an LA volunteer for 1 year, so I'm by far not the most knowledgable. Inside a department, there is an OC, who is the head. There are OGs who look after different events or aspects and make most of the decisions. The last are the volunteers who do MAINLY GRUNGE WORK. As a volunteer, ther is little chance to forward ideas of your own,but it is fun, and you get to learn alot.

All members of the organisation are chosen through interview, which can be formal or pointless depending on the mood of your interviewer. So have some material ready just in case. Having friends also helps(in fact helps the most)

Participation- The other thing to do is actually compete in events. The events change every year, but basically involve serious skills like singig or acting or less serious skills like just being funny. Either way, as college begins keep an eye on the boards at the gate and in the foyer, that is where audition announcements come out. Usually they appear shortly before the audition, so you have to be ready to act fast. Also, the unfortunate fact is, until you know people in college noone will help you with these things. You're just gonna have to suck in your gut and go for it.

There are two ways to participate. You can represent your college, winning points for them in the festival for the over-all prize. This is slightly more structured and you'll be better informed, and have a better chance to be in other events. On the downside, you are responsible to the Contingent, so less chance to chicken out in the end. But you can also go as an On The Spot Entry(OTSE) in most events, which means you're playing for yourself, regardless of what the people at your audition tell you. And to be frank, with the present state of Contingent organisation, the auditions are not always right......

Being a participant puts you in direct contact with people from other colleges. It also gets you ready for other intercollege festivals, wherein you can go to other colleges with full attendance. Also, the prizes in most events are good. And if you are serious, diligent and lucky, participating in events can be your stepping stone into a non-academic career. Best of all, you get to have fun.

Is Malhar over-hyped, pointless, for a select few, boring, too time consuming?

It is hyped, who cares if it is overhyped? Fun is more important.

Pointless? No. Read the above carefully.

For a select few? The most common excuse for not having dipped into Malhar is, its not for me, for those people maybe, but not for me. This is complete rubbish. Like St Xaviers college itself, you will always find like minded people, people who do it your way. Don't be scared, take the plunge. If you own a St Xaviers ID, Malhar is yours.

Boring, time consuming? The answer to both questions is entirely in your hands. If you take part set to feel bored, you will be. If you are looking for fun, you will find it. If you are busy with studies, you can find something to do that wastes time accordingly. Its all up to you.

That's about all i can think of for now. Any corrections are welcome. Toodles.

Heads up, Malhar!

Here's a heads up you all of you who would be interested in Malhar this year. And might I say, it has been a wonderful year for all of us. I, for one, have had many new experiences this year and have been taught many things by the sheer energy you students keep bringing back to this beautiful place year after year.

The juniors I refer to are the SY and FY students of both seniors and junior college. As for our TY friends, I hope their exams have been running smoothly and they are living up to the spirit of Xaviers' by bringing more accolades to our institution. The vacations have now come upon us and I hope every one of you is putting the time to the best possible use.

I sincerely wish that more of our SYJC students return in the next year and continue this spectacular romance with Xaviers' that they have experienced so far. As for the TY's who will be, sadly, leaving us, I wish them the best luck in the world and may their dreams be fulfilled. Keep the Xaviers' flag flying high.

Hoping to see you in the coming year,
Your Father,
CF

P.S. What happened at the Wanderers today, well, one of those 'can find no words to describe' events.
872!, yeah EIGHT HUNDRED AND SEVENTY TWO runs were scored in a single one day international, Ponting and Australia could't defend an highest ever score of 434!
I was however sure that with Dhoni and Sehwag on our side, we'd be the first to achieve the feat of 400, but Australia were too good and then SA. Dhoni and Sehwag should now aim for 200.
This is surely a defining event in the history of ODI's and shows signs of things to come. With the new breed of big hitters coming into the game, cricket lovers sure seem to be in store for a treat in the coming seasons. But we'd have to spare a thought for the bowlers, and I hope these fellas shall develop a few tricks... or the situation could get out of hand... with lesser ppl wanting to become bowlers and that would only work in favour of the batsmen... 500 next? There is a lot of pressure on bowlers today to be good at batting as well specially in the one-day format. Cricket academies around the world should work on the development of bowling…. Probably should employ physics guys like me to work on the development of new tricks.

THE FACTS

In the most extraordinary one-dayer ever, the home side's victory was achieved with one ball to spare and sparked wild celebrations on and off the Wanderers pitch.

Before 12th March 2006, no side had scored more than 400 in a one-day international and South Africa's total topped Australia's record 434/4 earlier in the day.

Ricky Ponting (164) Herschelle Gibbs (175.

A total of 872 runs were scored. The previous record was 693 when India beat Pakistan by five runs in Karachi in March 2004.

The previous innings record was the 398 for five Sri Lanka scored against Kenya in Kandy in 1995-96.

The two batsmen were jointly awarded man of the match but Ponting declined it, saying Gibbs deserved the honour alone.

Graeme Smith and Gibbs kept the home side on course with a lusty second-wicket stand of 187 off 128 balls, South Africa's highest partnership for any wicket against Australia.

Mick Lewis' return of nought for 113 was the most expensive bowling analysis in 50-over one-day internationals.

The previous record was the 0-99 Muttiah Muralitharan conceded for Sri Lanka against Australia in Sydney in February.

(Reference: Rediff)
<img width='1' height='1' It was quite appealing on how people might think just with the on look of a pic for it to be porn or a piece of art.

Some of the pic's were indeed an exclusively artistic... but nonetheless the mentality from generation-to-generation differs. These really were some awesome pic's and it was then indeed difficult to differ art from porn 'coz they all were then formidable to distinguish about.

Well they must have got quite some response.... but the imp thing is that most of the pic were thought to giving a stand for itself as porn but they were quite artistic when put to a thought.

Anyways thats the newest happening in xaviers round the clock. Otherwise its just missing the crowd... i mean today the foyer was empty, mess- empty, library as usaul- mostly empty.... and as the prac's of fy's was going on, the day was just grossed out.... and to add to that, the heat couldnt just keep it down, could it!

well, thats todays upto the thought thingy.

Heats up people!!

Rules of the Game

Good day students.

Now as I look through the posts on our Xaviers Blog, I can't help but notice a lot of you leaving arbid posts (which I have since deleted). Now, while Xaviers has always encouraged students to be creative, we must draw the line at vandalism.

With regards to this, I have decided to introduce the concept of marking posts that I find do NOT go with the spirit of Xaviers. So, henceforth, those posts which I find unworthy, will be marked (said marking will be done in the comments section). Users and visitors are then welcome to post comments on whether the post should be allowed to stay or deserves to go. Please note that this facility is only for those posts marked by me. Comments on unmarked posts in favour of their removal will not be entertained. After a period of 5 days, I shall come to the decision (based on the comments) of deleting or allowing the post.

Another thing that I must bring into light is the fact that a lot of our members would request privacy and prefer to remain anonymous. So, keeping this in mind, I would request all of you to not mention our contributers by their real name. I am creating a database of members who's identities are public and those who prefer to operate from behind a veil. At Xaviers, it is very important for us to respect the views and choices of others.

So, I ask all of our contributers to mail me at xaviersblog@hotmail.com or xaviersblog@gmail.com and give us your information for the database (info should include Name, Year, Subjects, and in the case of ex-students, Year of passing). Also let me know if you wish to reveal yourself or not. Those who choose to be open about their ID's shall have their ID's and names displayed on a seperate post by me so that others may know who they are. This post shall be constantly updated.

Thank you students.
Wish you all the best for the coming exams.

Black Coffee

The coffee was black with a smooth brown yellow froth over it, bubbles on the surface parted the froth to reveal the existence of the black beneath. The froth, I always tell my self will talk to me about the mornings I spent in the woods of the St.Xavier's College sipping black coffee on a yellow chair. The man at the counter knows that he has to add two cubes of sugar for this tall dark guy who comes for morning coffee. I use a straw to stir the coffee, the froth, before I pierce it with a straw, looks so beautiful that I almost manage to convince my self of the sin I commit by not letting it be a virgin and stirring the beauty out of it. As I stir the golden brown froth swirls on the surface to become the shade of light brown, it accumulates into neat circular eddies, the thinning of it tells me of the two sugar cubes being put to good use. I take my first sip to feel the electric impulses travel through my nerves like water under pressure flowing through kinky pipes.

Come up and feel the sun,
A new morning has begun,
another day will make it clear,
why your stars should guide us here.

Mark Knofler, Sailing to Philadelphia

The Secret Society Of Dead Poets!!!!

Well, for quite some time now Xaviers had a secret group od poet's, having poetry circle on saturdays... abt 1 pm.

Now, Khaliq Parkar, a TYBA student used to org. this particular meet and stuff.... but since the ithika and other stuff we havent had a poetry meet in months now. I just want to bring to notice that xaviers beign famous particularly for arts, it should be brought into notice that this poetry circle is very important from one point of view..... atleast it doesnt extend to the hour long patu lec's....... we have individual poems read and criticised.

I just want a vote on, does xaviers needs to build up such a hidden group and should the pupil who are or rather were a part this group try and expand it for the coming years?

Well, this wat i ask of all you ex but not ex- xavierites that should this poetry circle type='text'>Some Images of Xaviers

The first time I entered the Xaviers campus, I was mesmerised by the structure of the building.
The arches, the stone walls, the carvings on the columns, the wooden flooring, the winding stairwell, I still remember the feeling that came over me.

The last three years, that I studied [did I really?] here, were spent in appreciating the architecture.
Those morning classes in the windy 40's, scratching my head in Lr14, those discussions in Lr 02, the shoeing away of birds in the 30's and the joke cracking in the Ty Lab.

Given the wonderful buildings that Xavier's has, its truly a shame that most people are satisfied by taking pictures of the chapel from the first floor corridor, when there are so many nice things in Xavier's. [I am not referring to the female presence, but the various nooks and corners]

So here are some of the images of Xaviers. But let me warn you that all the pictures have not been taken by me.

1]The Woods!

when I first came, it was just a muddy ground with a few trees and a couple of benches, now it has changed a lot.

2] The Chapel from a different angle:

3] The garden & the volleyball court

4] The seemingly unending arches.

5] Sculptures on the columns:

6] The winding staircase, A.K.A. When I was in the first year(two years ago) the place was basically an open ground with four huge trees and a few shrubs, it stayed that way for such a short period of time that I hardly remember what the place first looked like. You can go across it to reach the offices, the xavier's institute of communication, and the boys hostel. What I will describe is what it looks like now. The mud on the ground has now been replaced by stone tiles with some space between them for grass to grow(they tried sowing some grass initially but attempts failed, so they have left the gaps to themselves.) One of the three trees was cut down as a part of the beautification of the place(they sliced the trunks into neat stumps and painted them with protective paint so that they could serve as stools, no other college has such stools in it's campus), there are two rocks just outside the chem lab, one fairly cubical and the other of the shape of a draggled bean bag . The three trees which stand in the woods(I dont know what they are called, but one of the has small leaves and the other two have leaves with wavy edges) are surrounded by circular flower and bush beds, these things are pretty wide leaving no place for any one to sit underneath the trees, but the bush beds and the places which are for people to sit form a nice mosaic of octagons which almost fills the woods. So you will have a octagon full of plants with leaves of alternating green and yellow and you will have red flowers with yellow pollen and you will have yellow flowers with the pollen not visible you will have bushes that form neat hedges and plants whose leaves are of the shape of a star, separated from another similar(well almost) octagon by a bridge like path that connects two octagons meant for sitting. (I must have the pictures from Dev) . Here too as in the foyer you will find couples cuddling each other and more beautiful girls, octagonal meetings of groups from all kinds of ideologies and play practices and hindustani music (not so much of guitar, that, only in the foyer). A lot of kaapi and tea and sandwiches, umbrellas, lousily dressed resident students and more beautiful girls.
I must share with you this moment which I experienced one morning while sipping black coffee over abstract algebra in the foyer. The morning sky was cloudy but did not look like it would rain, all of a sudden it was a torrent! I turned my gaze to the woods and looked at the million leaves there, as the drops began to fall on them they all quivered in a timeless rhythm ,yellow, green, spiked, round, all at once ,and they wouldn't stop.

The Foyer

I dont know of any other way to begin this, looks like I live in a choiceless universe.

The Foyer is a large open area adjoining the canteen where poeple are supposed to, well, socialise have food and drinks (No hard drinks). To cater to this purpose the foyer has lots of wooden chairs each of which are painted yellow (Making a few exceptions) and lots of comfortable benches. Now the benches can be classified into two types, the new ones which have a desk attached wiht he hope of bringing some study into the life of a xavierite, for after the foyer was made the xavierite could not stop socializing, eating and drinking and the process of a mass conversion of xavierites into foyerites had begun. By and large this conversion has succeded, the number of foyerites out numbers the number of xavierites in todays time. And the old ones are the more romantic ones made of plates of wood and wrought iron. These are extremely comfortable as they have curved back rests. You cannot as a xavierite imagine them without couples cuddling each other. The boundary of the foyer is lined by movable notice boards with all sorts of domestic and inernational announcements. It is extremely easy to organize talks, workshops, competitions in xavier's as all you have to do is post a notice on one of these boards and leave you cell phone number on it. In the morning you will find students sipping coffe (5 difftent types: Classic, Cappuchino, Moccachino, Black, Cold) Cold coffe is not avaliable in the morning. Or tea (Alteast 3 diffrrent types). Sudens can usually be seen completing journals or assignments or cuddling their girlfriends or boyfriends. People also read novels here. You might occasionally come accross a James Joyce fan on some yellow chair. The desks are filled with scribblings of all sorts. Crows are a distinctive feature of the foyer. They are significant in number. One of them is particularly note worthy, It is completely bald! it looks like a vulture, the xavierites call him the "culture" (the 'c' is to preserve it's identity of a crow). So the culture in xaviers has wings! How true! The ceiling is 20 ft high and yet some one has managed to stick a paper rocket by it's nose to it. In the afternoon the place is full of food soft drinks colourful clothes, comely figures and generous proportions, cleavages expensivecell phones, I-pods, Gituars, Message T-shirts (and pants, My favourite one had "tom" written on one leg and "harry" one the other),low rise jeans(dangerously low!) and a lot of noise. No college in mumbai can boast of a place where you can sit and sip on coffe and listen to the guitar. In here you come accross people singing hindustani classical or talking quantum mechanics or discussing Projective Geometry or existensialism or sociology or pol-science in this chaos.
Much remains to be described . But I will end here.

St Xavier's Bombay Talking

Well folks, I don't know if we've had a community blog before, but we do now. Lets see how this goes and if it lasts.

As you all know, communication in Xavier's is a bit slow. Sure we all talk to our friends everyday, but if you want to get something done.....

Well that is what i hope this blog will be used for, communication. Not just the daily gossip(though it has its place) but also as a sign up spot for new clubs, a joint to spread info on events, and a place to compare beer from bar's all around town(No, seriously).

To join, first e-mail your class and roll no. to the administrator at xaviersblog@gmail.com or xaviersblog@hotmail.com.
Who is the administrator?
